Fear of missing out — anxiety that others are having better experiences and you are missing something important. The term was introduced by Dan Herman in 1996, but FOMO became widespread with the arrival of social media.
JOMO — joy of missing out — the conscious choice not to participate in something in order to be present in the moment. Not "I should be there" — but "I am consciously here." This requires practice and revaluing priorities.
